在过去的几个星期，2016赛季btcc的大部分车手阵容已经被外界知晓，只有少数的惊喜留到了新赛季的媒体日才被揭开。
这其中的第一个惊喜就是bkr车队的加盟，车队将使用bmr车队上赛季使用的两台大众cc赛车参赛，而两位车手则是阿隆-史密斯（aron smith）和雷诺克里欧杯大师赛车手马克-霍华德（ mark howard）。bkr车队原本计划加入今年新开展的 b-tec发展系列赛当中，但车队在本月的早些时候宣布推迟了这一计划。
在媒体日上被宣布的还有，因出演英国肥皂剧emmerdale而家喻户晓的kelvin fletcher（凯文-弗莱彻）将驾驶第二辆power maxed racing车队的雪佛兰科鲁兹赛车参赛。这位32岁的车手，在2014年参加了英国保时捷卡雷拉杯部分分站的赛事，同年他还在英国大奖赛组委会的支持下参加了保时捷超级杯的赛事。
当然，冬歇期期间最大的两条新闻就是斯巴鲁的加入和halfords公司回归对本田厂队的赞助。bmr车队将使用4台全新的斯巴鲁levorgs赛车参赛，而车队的参赛阵容也是空前强大，这其中包括了杰森-柏拉图（ jason plato）、科林-特金顿（ colin turkington）、沃伦-斯科特（warren scott）以及车队的新援詹姆斯-科尔（james cole）。在本田车队那边，车队将使用身披全新halfords公司橙黑色涂装的三台本田思域type-r赛车参赛，而车手阵容则由卫冕冠军戈登-谢登（ gordon shedden）、马特-尼尔（matt neal）以及安迪-内特（andy neate.）组成。
相比以上两支厂队的相对稳定，第三支厂队888车队的阵容可谓是改头换面，约什-库克（ josh cook）将会和雷诺克里欧杯冠军阿什利-萨顿（ashley sutton）一起驾驶 mg6 gts赛车搭档出赛。
其他方面，杰克-高尔夫（ jack goff）顶替了离开btcc的安迪-普里奥（andy priaulx）加入west surrey racing车队，而安德鲁乔丹（ andrew jordan）则加盟 motorbase performance车队和马特-杰克逊（ mat jackson）成为队友。
霍华德、弗莱彻、萨顿与克里斯-斯麦利（chris smiley）迈克尔-艾普斯（michael epps）马特-辛普森（matt simpson）一起成为了本赛季btcc赛场上的新面孔。另外， hunter abbott（亨特-阿伯特）转会到了power maxed racing车队，斯图尔特-莱恩斯（ stewart lines）将会驾驶自己 maximum motorsport车队的福特福克斯st赛车参赛，丹-韦尔奇（ dan welch）也在最后一刻返回btcc,他将驾驶搭载 swindon引擎的宝腾赛车参赛。
最后，在本赛季我们将不会见到老相识戴夫-纽舍姆（ dave newsham）的身影，这位分站冠军车手已经宣布他将转战到英国rallycross的赛场，而rob austin racing support our paras racing和jwt performance车队也将消失在今年的车队列表中。
